This ensemble features some of the best musicians in the area; Dave Collee on bass, Gus VanStee on keys, Jim Beegle on trumpet, flueglehorn, congas and flute, Dan Giacobassi on saxes, flute and shakuhachi and Steve Harris on the drums. Checkers Morton plays from the heart and soul showcasing jazz classics as well as many original compositions by all of the band members.
According to bandleader Jim Beegle, each performance by Checkers Morton is unique and unpredictable featuring a variety of styles. Jumping from blues to jazz to funk, the only guarantee is a good time!
Tickets for Checkers Morton on Thursday, September 25th are on sale now at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts at 107 S. Harrison or by calling 231-845-2787. Tickets purchased in advance are $12 for not yet LACA members and $10 for LACA members. All tickets purchased at the door are $15. LACA offices are open Tuesday-Saturday, noon to 5pm.
